LIGHT'S REACH - The revelation from the southern reaches of the Empire is that House Kahar and House Mikin have solidified their alliance by taking their relationship one step further and merging the two Houses into one larger political and economic entitity: House Valoria.
The unexpected but not unsurprising move has seen the birth of the largest House that the Empire of Fastheld has ever borne witness to, placing the townships of Aegisport, Light's Reach, Lionsgate, Southwatch, Road's End, and Wedgecrest all under one banner, combining the House Guard of each into one effective and reaching militia, and securing territory that extends north of the Shadow District and the Fastheld River and west of Northreach Road in the north, and south of Zahir Road and west of the Imperial Throughfare in the south.
The move has effectively seen the end of the Imperial House Kahar, though it is expected that House Valouria will retain the "Imperial House", and the young Emperor will become Talus Valoria the First. The Prince of the Blood has reportedly remarked that House Kahar died with Talus Kahar XIV, and that the memory should rest with him.
Though it is expected that the Imperial Watch will continue to provide law enforcement in Light's Reach in agreement for having a large garrison there (as well as the Imperial Tribunal itself), the question as to the territorial status of the city has now been laid to rest, and the fortunes of the former House Mikin have improved tenfold by the merge, given that the numerous disasters that have befallen the House in the past had left it somewhat wounded and dependent upon House Kahar for regional and economic support (as well as political assistance).
It is not yet know what heraldry will be adopted for House Valoria.
