News of the Realm: House Valorian guard named

LIONSGATE - The House Guard of House Valoria, previously unnamed in the wake of the merge between House Kahar and House Mikin, has finally been officially named as the Silverwatch.

The name is believed to reference the Light (in regards to the silver), though may also draw connections to the white palisade walls of Light's Reach, and the alabaster walls of Lionsgate and the White Tower within the same city.

It is believed that the Silverwatch will adopt silver-chainmail as their uniform, as well as a proud royal-blue-and-white colored tabard emblazoned with the heraldic gryphon of House Valoria.

News of the Realm: Godric Lomasa disowned

EAST LEG - Word spreads through taverns and taphouses all throughout House Lomasa's lands that the notorious Baron Godric Lomasa, known for such deeds as his recent mauling by bears in the Wildlands and being banished by three separate noble Houses, has been disowned by his own House at the decision of Duke Norran Lomasa.

Declarations were posted throughout Lomasa territory:

"Let it be known that by authority of HIS GRACE, THE DUKE NORRAN LOMASA and PATRIARCH of the noble HOUSE LOMASA that the BARON GODRIC LOMASA of ELKMONT is to be hereby expelled from the noble HOUSE LOMASA.

His continuing actions of callous disregard toward subordinates, disrespect to nobility of other Houses, conduct unbefitting of a Knight-Potential of the Order of the Silver Tankard, excessive use of violence and insubordination toward HIS GRACE, THE DUKE NORRAN LOMASA, have demonstrated that BARON GODRIC LOMASA of ELKMONT is no longer worthy of his name.

BARON REGIUS LOMASA of BULL'S RUN; SQUIRE to HIS GRACE, THE DUKE NORRAN LOMASA"

With the Kingdom's policy of Houseless nobles recently brought up in the case of former Kahars and Mikins, it is also notable that if the former Baron Godric Lomasa is unable to find another House to take him in within a month's time, he will become a Freelander.

News of the Realm: Sun sets on former Kahars and Mikins

LIONSGATE - Two months after the formation of House Valoria, the Royal Office of Census and Excise has declared that "errant" Kahars and Mikins will be considered "rogue" Nobles as of midnight, and demoted to the social rank of Freelander.

Though a rare occurrence, it is in line with Royal Law regarding "bastard" Nobles, which cites that any Un-Housed Nobles become Freelanders after a month of being abandoned. Such laws were established to prevent the formations of "rogue" Houses shortly after Fastheld was founded and the Six Great Houses brought into union.

The law has only ever had to be brought into play on such a wide scale on three or four documented occasions: When House Carwell has vanquished when the Kingdom was established, when House Vozhdya was defeated in Fastheld's infancy, and when the sub-House Vozhd-Kahar was disbanded a few years ago.

It has, however, seen numerous uses throughout documented history as Nobles have either been disowned from their House or have been exiled from the realm entirely.

News of the Realm: Gryphon Fair announced

Heralds of the Crown have announced that the yearly Wildcat Fair, a celebration hosted by House Kahar that honors traditional values of teamwork and bravery, will this year be changed to the Gryphon Fair in honor of the new House Valoria. The festivities are to take place on the 20th of Seedwarming at the Tournament Field of Lionsgate.

In addition to this general announcement- intended for entertainers and craftmen to have time to prepare- a more specific announcement of the main event can be heard about the realm. A team tournament will be held, re-enacting some of Fastheld's most famous battles with an emphasis on strategic thinking over individual martial prowess. Nobles who are interested in taking part must assemble six-man teams prior to the fair and register to participate. These teams may consist of nobles or Freelanders alike, though the leader must be noble, and it is hinted a prize of some value will be available for the winner.

News of the Realm: Drunken Dragon closed for repairs

TRADEMEET - The "Drunken Dragon Tavern", one of the Kingdom's newest establishments, has been closed for 'substantial repairs' after an incident at the tavern caused a fair amount of damage to both the property and reputation of the tavern.

It is said that a Baron by the name of Godric Lomasa had been asked to leave the tavern by the Drunken Dragon's current proprietor after the Baron's opinion of the hired entertainment caused an incident that disturbed the peace of the usually quiet establishment.

When the Baron refused to leave, it is thought that the act of attempting to escort the Baron from the establishment lead to a misunderstanding that resulted in steel being drawn and blood to be spilled. Though many of the facts have been lost in both the confusion and the mixed opinions of those looking on, the Royal Guard were quick to intervene and the situation was promptly resolved.

In conclusion, the Drunken Dragon will remain closed for a week while repairs are made to damaged property. It is thought that while the Baron Lomasa will no longer be permitted access into the tavern once it reopens, the Innkeeper will be made to pay for the cost of the repairs (and medical charges) herself, and will also pay a stipend of 5000 Kahars Imperial to the Baron Lomasa in reparation for the trouble the misunderstanding caused.

The Royal Guard have since dismissed calls to execute the Drunken Dragon's owner citing that Royal Property Laws gave her the right to request for the Baron to leave the establishment, and to seek his escort from the premises when he refused.

However, the Royal Guard will take no action against the Baron for his 'over reaction' to the escort attempt, claiming that the Innkeeper should have waited for the Royal Guard to arrive to avoid the misunderstanding that escalated into something more.

It is also believed that alcohol played a fair part in turning a trivial matter into something major, and the Captain of the Royal Guard in Trademeet has concluded that all parties were equally to blame for the incident, and that the matter is now considered closed.

News of the Realm: Some things don't change

It is said that the people of Fastheld will still be known as "Imperials", regardless of the changes to the realm from that of Empire to Kingdom. The name is ancestral and speaks of a people, rather than a place, and - as such - is not governed by such changes in government.

Equally, the Imperial Cult shall also retain its name, for the name literally means "The Cult of the People" (of Fastheld), rather than the cult of the Imperial Government. It harkens back to the rise in "ancestor worship" that evolved independent from the Church of True Light and their teachings.

Finally, the Kahar Imperial will also retain its name; first for historical preservation, and secondly to avoid economical complications.

News of the Realm: Imperial organizations change names

The crowning of King Talus Valoria the First and the shaping of an Empire into a Kingdom has also extended into a number of formerly Imperial organizations as well.

The already recently formed Imperial Navy shall be renamed to become the Royal Navy.

The young Imperial Watch shall be renamed to become the Royal Guard (perhaps also hinting that House Guard will be given greater control over the roads and highways of the territory they protect).

The Imperial Tribunal is to be disbanded under the direction of the Sovereign Prince, and merged into the Royal Order of the Crown.

It is believed that the Royal Order will be given the same duties that the Imperial Tribunal previously handled, though in turn giving the Royal Order a greater purpose within the Kingdom, and equally cutting down on bureaucracy.

A Grandmaster of the Royal Order will be appointed to replace the role of Justiciar, which has been vacant since Soravyn Zahir vanished from Fastheld. It is also being hinted that an Adventurer's Guild may be formed to provide auxiliary agents of whom Knight-Errants can enlist the aid.

The Imperial Office of Census and Excise shall become known as the Royal Office of Census and Excise.

The Imperial Office of Penumbral Affairs is to be scrapped entirely - before it even had a chance to operate. It is believe that the Imperial Cult will instead be entrusted with the duties that the Penumbral Affairs Office was intended to handle, and will be given a boost in funding to recruit more Ordinators to the number of one thousand.

News of the Realm: Empire becomes kingdom

FASTHELD KEEP - With the crowning of His Majesty the King Talus Valoria the First, the Empire has officially become a Kingdom, with the realm of Fastheld now taking on a new name as the Kingdom of Fastheld.

To many historians, this shift will come as an acceptable surprise, for it has long been lamented that Fastheld herself was never an Empire in the correct context of the term, save for having an Emperor. Such debates have long filled the houses and conversations of the learned, and shall now be put to rest.

The term of "The Kingdom" is now quickly taking root among Nobles and Citizens alike, and the mood across the realm is generally optimistic, as the winds of change often seed such thoughts and emotions in their wake.

News of the Realm: Talus Valoria I crowned king

FASTHELD KEEP - Heralds across the realm are proclaiming that the Crown Regent Zolor Zahir and the Sovereign Prince Serath Valoria have crowned Talus Valoria the First as King as Fastheld.

Formerly Talus Kahar the Fifteenth, the ceremony was held in private under joint agreement between both the Crown Regent and the Sovereign Prince as a solidified pact that neither would seek to retain power for themselves once the now child-King comes to power.

Crowning His Majesty as King is also being seen as a shift in direction for Fastheld itself, shifting away from the Emperors of old to perhaps grant the Noble Houses more independent rule over their territorial boundaries.

In all, it marks a new age for Fastheld and her people, and a substantial change in the wind for the realm as a whole. The Crown Regent will now adopt the title of Standing Steward of Fastheld, and will retain all powers of stewardship in order to govern and direct the realm until the child-king comes of age.

News of the Realm: New Fastheldian Archmage?

CROWN'S REFUGE - With the disappearance of the mage known as "Uriel", the Wildlanders and Syladris of Crown's Refuge have been quick to point out that Tshepsi can now technically be considered the "Archmage of Fastheld", having held such a title officially before - and after - the annexation of the Refuge, and due to the fact that she still holds it now.

It is unsure as to whether or not the Imperial Crown will grant her the title officially but, on an unofficial level, it would appear that the title is at least valid, and not without some influence given that Tempest Spire is considered sovereign territory.

News of the Realm: "Crystal Tower" missing

WEDGECREST - Citizens of the Valorian city of Wedgecrest are reporting noticing something on the western horizon; or, rather, not noticing something. It seems that the "Crystal Tower", the home of the self-titled "Archmage of Fastheld" - a man by the name of "Uriel" - has gone missing.

Where has the tower gone? No one seems able to say. However, an inspection of the grounds where the tower used to stand have revealed no evidence that the area was ever disturbed, meaning that the very land itself has been restored, and all tracks covered.

As for "Uriel" himself, all signs point to the man vanishing with his tower. To some this comes as a relief, but to many others it raises more questions than answers.

News of the Realm: Imperial Navy to be re-formed

FASTHELD KEEP - The Imperial Navy, once the naval arm of the Emperor's Blades in the early history of the Empire of Fastheld, is to be reformed as the naval branch of the Imperial Watch, the Imperial Crown today announced.

Operating a fleet of new, refitted, and/or refurbished carvels, the Imperial Navy will provide ferry services along both the Fastheld River, shipping passengers and cargo alike to and from the various ports that are situated along the waterways.

Though elaborate for simple ferry duties, the Imperial Crown hopes that the frequent transit of the caravels and their visibility upon the broad waterways that run through Fastheld will do much to curb the presence of bandits, corsairs, and pirates - all of which have seen a notable rise in recent months.

While little was mentioned about the role of the Darkwater Deepers within the Imperial Crown's new agenda for taking on security upon the Empire's rivers, it is expected that while they may retain their privateering status, the sun is now setting on their particular brand of "law enforcement", and the leniency with which they previously operated will be scaled back to that of a mercenary company.

News of the Realm: Kallyn Lake condemned

Couriers throughout Fastheld are placing the following proclamation in prominent places in every city square:

"Be it known that the mage Kallyn Lake, for repeated offenses against the Syladris Amendment and using her powers of Shadow to cause harm to citizens of the Empire, is hereby sentenced to death as a traitor to the Empire. Let her execution serve as an example that the mercy of the Empire toward the Shadow-Touched is not without end, and justice for those who would bring harm to law-abiding citizens is certain.

"Be it known that the rights of Kallyn Lake as a citizen of the Empire have been revoked as punishment for her actions, and that she shall be as a traitor to the Empire henceforth. A bounty of ten thousand Imperials shall be paid to any who assist the Watch and the Imperial Cult in bringing Lake to justice.

"All citizens are warned that Kallyn Lake has been corrupted by Shadow, is in communion with Darkness, and has a record of violent behavior; citizens are urged to consider the danger before attempting to apprehend her."
